Ny version av DebEX-Mint 12 live dvd
Jag har 120104 ersatt min DebEX-Mint 12 Xmas Edition live dvd med DebEX-Mint 12 Special Edition. Systemet är en remaster av Linux Mint 12 - alias "Lisa" (From freedom came elegance), som släpptes den 26 november 2011. Originalet innehåller skrivbordsmiljöerna Gnome 3.2, Gnome Classic (Gnome 2.32) och Mate (a fork of the venerable GNOME 2 desktop environment). I DebEX-Mint 12 Special Edition har jag dessutom installerat KDE 4.7.4 (senaste stabila version), som ett alternativ, så att alla på stående fot (under live-körning) kan jämföra de olika skrivbordsmiljöerna.

Jag har ersatt originalkerneln 3.0.0-14-generic (samma som i Ubuntu 11.10) med "min" egenkompilerade kernel 3.1.6-debex. Kernel 3.1.6 är den näst senaste tillgängliga stabila kernel, som kan hämtas från kernel.org.

It might also be worth to follow a forum thread at linuxmint com. Differences: Linux Mint 12 and DebEX-Mint 12 Special KDE is different only in principle to the terms of program content. A general truth: If an original system can run on a particular computer an "Exton remaster" of the same original system can run on the same computer. I never change a Linux system for the worse in terms of auto configuration and hardware detection, etc. It happens that I replace the original kernel, but always to a "better" one with even more native support for various hardware etc. Exton distributions: The number of Exton distributions has decreased from 66 (all time high in June 2011) to 32. See a complete LIST. It was a bit too much for me to keep 66 distributions up to date. All Exton distributions on the Swedish Linux Society's FTP Servercan be reached HERE. Eleven (11) Exton distributions in English (English locale) can also be dowloaded from SourceForge.net.

3. Wicd har avinstallerats. Istället har jag gjort Network Manager tillgängligt även i KDE

5. Jag har installerat SSH (på begäran) 
6. Installerat firmware för trådlösa Broadcom-kort
7. Programkälla för Spotify (Apt/Synaptic)
8. Div. utseendeförändringar.
