Run Android 10 on your PC :: AndEX 10 (Android-x86_64) with GAPPS (Google Play Store etc.), F-Droid, Brave Browser and Spotify :: Build 200218

NEWS 200218 – A new version of AndEX 10
I’ve uploaded a new upgraded version of AndEX 10 – andex-10-x86_64-gapps-fdroid-spotify-1180mb-200218.iso. I.e. all included apps have been updated to the latest version. Also Google Play Services and Google Play Store. The main reason for this new version is that I discovered that Google Chrome couldn’t run anymore. I have therefore replaced Google Chrome with Brave, which is an excellent Web Browser in many ways. At the same time I discovered a new very nice launcher – 3D Live Launcher. So it is of course included in AndEX Build 200218. Make it your standard Launcher. I’ve also added the app Google Play Games. Makes it easier to run games in AndEX.

Upgrade from version 200108 to 200218?
If you already have AndEX version 200108 up and running there is no need to acquire the new version. Just upgrade all apps to the latest version of today and you’re done! Use Google Play Store for that. You can of course also install Brave, the 3D Live Launcher and Google Play Games yourself.

AndEX 10 (Android-x86) runs very well on the Intel Compute Stick

AndEX 10 (Android-x86) Build 200108 with GAPPS (Google Play Store etc.) runs very well on the Intel Compute Stick. See how it looks (photo) when I use a 55 Inch TV.

Read about Intel Compute Sticks…

History
This is what I wrote on December 3, 2016: I have made a new version of ExTiX – The Ultimate Linux System. I call it ExTiX 16.5 LXQt for the Intel Compute Stick. Build 161203 is only for Intel Compute Sticks. I.e. you can’t run the system on other computers. Build 161203 uses “my” kernel 4.8.0-26-exton-IntelAtom with special patches, which I have Linuxium to thank for. READ MORE…

Kernel patches isn’t needed anymore, which means that any Linux system can be installed to the stick. For example ExTiX LXQt and AndEX 10.

About AndEX 10
I knew from before that ExTiX runs very well on the Compute Stick. Today I decided to test it with AndEX 10. And guess what? Also AndEX works very well! You can run it live (from a USB stick) or install it (which I did). AndEX 10 Build 200108 has GAPPS (Google Play Store etc), Aptoide App Manager, F-Droid, Spotify, Angry Birds and many other apps pre-installed. Those apps are fun to run on a BIG TV screen.

Android-x86_64 Pie 9.0 with GAPPS (Google Play Store etc.), Aurora Store, F-Droid and Netflix – Build 190912

NEWS 190912 about AndEX Pie 9.0 with GAPPS
A new build of AndEX Pie is ready. It has GAPPS (Google Play Store etc), Aurora Store, F-Droid, Netflix and many other apps pre-installed. My new build of Android x86_64 – andex_x86_64-pie-9.0-gapps-netflix-1600mb-190912.iso can be installed to hard drive or on a USB stick. You can also run the system live. I.e. from a DVD or a USB stick. On some computers you’ll have to start up AndEX 9.0 in compatibility mode (VESA) though. The sound and video performance is generally very very good. Google Play Store works very well in this build of AndEX Pie. So does the Netflix and Spotify app. I’ve also included two extra app stores – Aurora Store and F-Droid. Use them if you can’t find the app you’re looking for using Google Play Store. NOTE: Doing a manual installation is not necessary as regards AndEX Pie Build 190912. The system’s install function work very well.

Screenshot – AndEX Pie Build 190912 – the Desktop with many nice apps pre-installed.

MORE ABOUT AndEX Pie
My new compiled Android-x86_64 system (Pie 9.0) can run and be installed on almost all newer laptops (and some Desktop computers). For example Acer (Aspire), HP, Samsung, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, Thinkpad, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Asus laptops. You can (of course) also run AndEX in VirtualBox and/or VMware. I can also mention that I could run my new Pie version without problems on a HP Pavilion 500-317no Desktop Computer. You can very easy do a “normal” or manual installation to hard drive. A manual installation can also be done to a drive where you already have another Linux system (for example Ubuntu 19.04) installed.

Android Pie 9.0 was released 180806.

What’s the point?
Well, if you like your Android phone and all the apps you have installed on it I’m sure you will also like to run apps from your laptop. Bigger screen and better sound etc. Also: In AndEX Pie Build 190912 many new apps and games can be installed via Google Play Store, Aurora Store or F-Droid. You can even install very big games (of 1GB or so), but unfortunately almost all such games need a touchscreen. Still not convinced? Then read my article about “How useful an Androx-x86 system can be for the average computer user“.

RaspAnd Pie 9 for Raspberry Pi 3 B and B+ :: Build 190903 :: with Google Chrome, YouTube, Evie Launcher, Aurora Store and F-Droid. All working very well!

RaspAnd Pie 9 for Raspberry Pi 3 B and B+ :: Build 190903 :: with Google Chrome,YouTube, Aurora Store and F-DroidFree and Open Source Android App Repository. NOTE: Aurora and F-Droid are replacements for Yalp Store and Aptoide App Manager. Yalp doesn’t work anymore. Aptoide works very well in RaspAnd Pie, but I had no room for it in this build. You can, however, easily install Aptoide yourself.

About Raspberry Pi 4
This build (RaspAnd Pie 190903) doesn’t work on the new Raspberry Pi 4. You can also not yet find another build (with Android) which works on the Raspberry Pi 4 computer.

ABOUT RaspAnd Pie 9 Build 190903

RaspAnd Pie 9 runs very well on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and 3 Model B+. I.e. the system is pretty responsive if you use a micro SD card of good quality. RaspAnd Pie has the following apps pre-installed: Google Chrome, Aurora Store, F-Droid, Aida64, Rotation Control Pro, Evie Launcher, Termux, ES File Explorer. Unfortunately not Google Play Store, but Aurora and F-Droid work as good replacements for it.

About Aurora Store
Aurora Store is an alternate to Google’s Play Store, with an elegant design, using Aurora you can download apps, update existing apps, search for apps, get details about in-app trackers, spoof your location and much more. So Aurora Store works as a pretty good replacement for Google Play Store. I think.

About F-Droid
F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.

About GetJar
The worlds biggest Open App Store for Android. If you can’t find the app you want on at Aurora or F-Droid you can always try with GetJar. Just download the APK file and install it!

SCREENSHOTS
1. The new Desktop using Evie Launcher
2. Using Aurora Store
3. The Desktop after first boot
4. Changing wallpaper with ES File Manager
5. Installing Spotify with Aptoide – (Spotify works very well and you can install Aptoide if you want to)
6. Running Spotify
7. Running Termux – you can use Apt!
8. WiFi Settings – (WiFi works very well)
9. AIDA64 running showing the system info

Android-x86_64 Pie 9.0 with Pie Launcher, Yalp Store, Aptoide App Manager, Netflix, Spotify and Firefox with YouTube – Build 190426

NEWS 190426 about a new extra version of AndEX Pie 9.0
My new build of Android x86_64 – andex-x86_64-pie-9.0-aptoide-netflix-spotify-1610mb-190426.iso can be installed to hard drive or on a USB stick. You can also run the system live. I.e. from a DVD or a USB stick. On some computers you’ll have to start up AndEX 9.0 in compatibility mode (VESA) though. The sound and video performance is generally very very good. Yalp Store and Aptoide App Manager work very well in this build of AndEX Pie. So does the Netflix and Spotify app. I have unfortunately not been able to install Google Play Store and other GAPPS. Yalp Store and Aptoide work as good replacements for Google Play Store though. This new version of AndEX Pie (build 190426) runs somewhat faster and is a bit more responsive than the “old” version (build 190326) of AndEX Pie. It also runs very well live in VirtualBox and VMware. The new version looks better too since it uses Pie Launcher as Desktop environment.

About Yalp Store
Yalp Store lets you download apps directly from Google Play Store as apk files. It can search for updates of installed apps and lets you search for other apps. The point of Yalp Store is to be small and independent from Google Services Framework. By default Yalp Store connects to Google services using a built-in account, so you do not have to own a Google account to use it. The only reason to use a live Google account is to access the paid apps you own or leave reviews. So Yalp Store works as a pretty good replacement for Google Play Store. I think.

MORE NEWS 190426 about AndEX Pie 9.0
My new build of Android-x86_64 Pie 9.0 have Yalp Store (see above) and Aptoide App Manager pre-installed. Also many other apps. For example: Netflix, Spotify, ES File Explorer, AIDA64 and Firefox. YouTube works very well in Firefox.

For some reason the sound in YouTube works (much) better when running YouTube in Firefox. I.e. compared to when using the YouTube app. The YouTube app is therefore not pre-installed.

AndEX (Android-x86) Oreo 8.1 – Build 181028 – now with the Netflix app working!

NEWS 181028 about AndEX Oreo 8.1 with Netflix
This build of AndEX Oreo replaces Build 180918. My new build of Android x86_64 – andex_x86_64-oreo-8.1-gapps-netflix-windows-launchers-1180mb-181028.iso can be installed to hard drive using the installation program or manually. You can also run the system live. I.e. from a DVD or a USB stick. On some computers you’ll have to start up AndEX 8.1 in compatibility mode (VESA) though. NOTE: You can run AndEX Oreo Build 181028 on newer laptops and Desktop computers. The sound and the video performance is generally very very good. Also when running the Netflix app!

MOST IMPORTANT CHANGES IN BUILD 181028
Google Play Store now works as intended. As an alternative you can use Aptoide App Manager, which also is pre-installed. Three nice special window launchers are pre-installed: Microsoft Launcher, Win 10 Launcher and OO Launcher. (OO Launcher is an enhanced Android™ O Oreo™ style launcher, with many useful enhanced launcher features). The Netflix app is pre-installed in Build 181028 – read below how to start/use it. I’ve discovered a new way to manually install AndEX Oreo to hard drive. Very simple! Read more below. You can now open up a terminal and become root with the command su root (which you couldn’t in previous versions of AndEX Oreo). Build 181028 uses kernel 4.18.14 with more support for various hardware. Most important: The install function works in this new version of AndEX Oreo. You can also install AndEX Oreo to a virtual hard drive while using VirtualBox and/or VMware. You can also run AndEX Oreo very well live in both VMware and VirtualBox. You can now install AndEX Oreo 8.1 in VMware using the install function (which you couldn’t in my previous AndEX Oreo builds). When booting from hard drive in VMware you’ll have to use the nomodeset boot alternative though.

Using Netflix
Before you can start the Netflix app you’ll have to go to Settings >> Android-x86 options and Enable native bridge to support apps with arm native libraries. Then start Netflix. Note: When running AndEX Oreo live (i.e. from a DVD or USB stick or live in VirtualBox or VMware) it can happen that you get an error message when you try to start Netflix. Just try again (up to about five times) and/or wait a few minutes. Or restart AndEX a couple of times. After that everything will be alright. When running AndEX Oreo from hard drive Netflix starts immediately when you want (with perfect video and sound quality). Note also: Whatever you do don’t try to upgrade Netflix. No other version than the one pre-installed will work.
