Run Android Pie on your PC :: AndEX Pie (Android-x86_64) with GAPPS (Google Play Store etc.), Spotify, Clash of Clans, Angry Birds, Brave Browser and Root Explorer :: Build 200301

NEWS 200301 about AndEX Pie 9.0 with GAPPS
A new build of AndEX Pie is ready. It has GAPPS (Google Play Store etc), Aptoide App Manager, Clash of Clans, Angry Birds, Root Explorer, Brave Browser, Spotify and many other apps pre-installed. My new build of Android x86_64 – andex-pie-x86_64-gapps-1360mb-200301.iso can be installed to hard drive or on a USB stick. You can also run the system live. I.e. from a DVD or a USB stick. On some computers you’ll have to start up AndEX Pie in compatibility mode (VESA) though. The sound and video performance is generally very very good. Google Play Store works very well in this build of AndEX Pie. I’ve also included one extra app store – Aptoide App Manager. Use Aptoide if you can’t find the app you’re looking for using Google Play Store. The very nice launcher 3D Live Launcher is used also in this AndEX version. Make it your standard Launcher.

Why this new AndEX Pie Build?
My first AndEX Pie build is from September 12, 2019. It is still very good and valid. Mainly because the Netflix app can run in Build 190912. My new Build 200301 is rooted, which prevents Netflix from running. The Android Project released Android-x86 9.0-r1 200227 – The Android-x86 project is glad to announce the 9.0-r1 release to the public. This is the first stable release for Android-x86 9.0 (pie-x86). The 9.0-r1 release is based on the latest Android 9.0.0 Pie release (android-9.0.0_r53). The features include: support both 64-bit and 32-bit kernel and userspace with latest LTS kernel 4.19.105; support OpenGL ES 3.x hardware acceleration for Intel, AMD, NVIDIA and QEMU (virgl) by Mesa 19.3.4; support OpenGL ES 2.0 via SwiftShader for software rendering on unsupported GPU devices; support hardware accelerated codecs on devices with Intel HD and G45 graphics family; support secure booting from UEFI and installing to UEFI disk; a text-based GUI installer; add theme support to GRUB-EFI; support multi-touch, audio, WiFi, Bluetooth, sensors, camera and Ethernet (DHCP only); simulate WiFi adapter on devices with Ethernet only to increase app compatibility; auto-mount external USB drive and SD card. I tried Android Project’s ISO the same day (200227). To my surprise it didn’t run well (at least on my computers). The system wouldn’t run/start at all or the computer/system froze or crashed when I reached the Android Pie Desktop. I therefore decided to build my own new Android Pie system using the same sources as the Android Project. The result is AndEX Pie Build 200301. It works very well. I.e. no freezes or crashes. Note: The Android Project’s build from 200227 is also rooted. So even if you manage to start the system you can’t run the Netflix app.

Kernel
Kernel 4.19.105-exton is used in AndEX Pie Build 200301.

Clash of Clans (pre-installed) and Angry Birds (pre-installed) and other popular games
Clash of Clans (a very popular epic strategy game) and Angry Birds (both pre-installed) work very very well. Perfect video quality and audio. If you have a touchscreen you can also (for example) run Wild Hunt, Flight Pilot, CSR Racing 2, Bowmasters and Shooting King. Watch a screenshot of the desktop when I have installed the just mentioned game apps (in AndEX Nougat).

About YouTube

YouTube works very well when running YouTube in Brave Browser. The YouTube app is therefore not pre-installed. You can, however, install the app via Google Play Store (for example).

About Facebook
The Facebook app works very well in AndEX Pie. Just go get it via Google Play Store.

What’s the point?
Well, if you like your Android phone and all the apps you have installed on it I’m sure you will also like to run apps from your laptop. Bigger screen and better sound etc. Also: In AndEX Pie Build 200301 and 190912 many new apps and games can be installed via Google Play Store, Aurora Store or F-Droid. You can even install very big games (of 1GB or so), but unfortunately almost all such games need a touchscreen. Still not convinced? Then read my article about “How useful an Androx-x86 system can be for the average computer user“.

SCREENSHOTS
1. The AndEX Pie Desktop with 3D Live Launcher (pre-installed)
2. The standard AndEX Pie Desktop with 3D Live Launcher’s wallpaper. (You can of course change it)
3. Showing how to make a WiFi connection in VirtualBox
4. Using another launcher
5. Using yet another launcher. (Find the one you like on Google Play Store)

Run Android 10 “Mini version” on your PC :: AndEX 10 (Android-x86_64) with GAPPS (Google Play Store etc.), Mint Browser and Root Explorer :: Build 200225

NEWS 200225 – A new mini version of AndEX 10 is ready!
I’ve uploaded a new upgraded version of AndEX 10 – andex-10-x86_64-mini-gapps-892mb-200225.iso. All included apps have been updated to the latest version. Also Google Play Services and Google Play Store. The ISO file is of only 892 MB! Makes it easier to run AndEX on computers with low RAM. I have replaced the Brave Browser with Mint Browser, which also is an excellent Web Browser in many ways. The very nice launcher 3D Live Launcher is used also in this AndEX version. Make it your standard Launcher.

Upgrade from version 200108 to 200218 or to version 200225?
If you already have AndEX version 200108 or 200218 up and running there is no need to acquire the new version. Just upgrade all apps to the latest version of today and you’re done! Use Google Play Store for that. You can of course also install for example YouTube, Brave, the Spotify app and Google Play Games yourself (if you are running the AndEX 10 mini version of 200225).

Running AndEX 10 live from a USB stick
When running AndEX 10 from a USB stick you can’t normally install new apps or download anything. For example new wallpapers. That’s because you have no storage space. If you, however, use Rufus 3.8 when installing AndEX to the USB stick you can create a Persistent partition of 2GB on the stick. When running Rufus it will look like this.

When running AndEX 10 from the USB stick you can open up a File Manager. You will notice that you have a persistent space of 2GB – screenshot. You will now be able to install new apps and download things. Unfortunately nothing will be left if/when you reboot your computer.

RaspAnd Pie 9 for Raspberry Pi 3 B and B+ :: Build 190903 :: with Google Chrome, YouTube, Evie Launcher, Aurora Store and F-Droid. All working very well!

RaspAnd Pie 9 for Raspberry Pi 3 B and B+ :: Build 190903 :: with Google Chrome,YouTube, Aurora Store and F-DroidFree and Open Source Android App Repository. NOTE: Aurora and F-Droid are replacements for Yalp Store and Aptoide App Manager. Yalp doesn’t work anymore. Aptoide works very well in RaspAnd Pie, but I had no room for it in this build. You can, however, easily install Aptoide yourself.

About Raspberry Pi 4
This build (RaspAnd Pie 190903) doesn’t work on the new Raspberry Pi 4. You can also not yet find another build (with Android) which works on the Raspberry Pi 4 computer.

ABOUT RaspAnd Pie 9 Build 190903

RaspAnd Pie 9 runs very well on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and 3 Model B+. I.e. the system is pretty responsive if you use a micro SD card of good quality. RaspAnd Pie has the following apps pre-installed: Google Chrome, Aurora Store, F-Droid, Aida64, Rotation Control Pro, Evie Launcher, Termux, ES File Explorer. Unfortunately not Google Play Store, but Aurora and F-Droid work as good replacements for it.

About Aurora Store
Aurora Store is an alternate to Google’s Play Store, with an elegant design, using Aurora you can download apps, update existing apps, search for apps, get details about in-app trackers, spoof your location and much more. So Aurora Store works as a pretty good replacement for Google Play Store. I think.

About F-Droid
F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.

About GetJar
The worlds biggest Open App Store for Android. If you can’t find the app you want on at Aurora or F-Droid you can always try with GetJar. Just download the APK file and install it!

SCREENSHOTS

2. Using Aurora Store
3. The Desktop after first boot
4. Changing wallpaper with ES File Manager
5. Installing Spotify with Aptoide – (Spotify works very well and you can install Aptoide if you want to)
6. Running Spotify
7. Running Termux – you can use Apt!

RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and Model B+ – Build 180717 – with Google Play Store, Aptoide TV and TeamViewer

NEWS 180717: My build of RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 is ready. It’s the first RaspAnd build with Android Oreo 8.1 and the first RaspAnd build to work on the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. All installed apps (including Google Play Services and Google Play Store) have been updated to the latest available version by 180717. Read about all other included apps below. While downloading RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 Build 180717 you will also get RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 Build 180529, which works much better than RaspAnd Oreo 8.1.

NEWS later 180717: I’ve also uploaded a mini version of RaspAnd Oreo 8.1. It has only the absolute necessary apps pre-installed. I. e. GAPPS (Google Play Services with Google Play Store) and a Browser – Via Browser (Fast and Light – Geeks Best Choice). Watch a screenshot showing all installed apps in the mini version of RaspAnd Oreo. The mini version of RaspAnd Oreo is somewhat faster than the “big” version. The advantage is also that you can install the apps you really need. REMEMBER: The fewer apps you have installed the faster RaspAnd will run.

MORE ABOUT RaspAnd Oreo
RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 Build 180717 is an Android 8.1 Oreo system which can run on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and Model B+. I have included the following apps.
1) GAPPS (Google Play Services with Google Play Store) in latest versions.
2) Spotify is not installed. Install version 4.6 via Google Play Store. It works very well!
3) Google Play Games (needed for for example Clash of Clans to run)
4) TeamViewer – control other computers from your Rpi3!
5) Via Browser
6) Firefox
7) CM Browser
8) Aptoide TV (for installing new apps which can’t be found on Google Play Store – many many apps can be installed!)

RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B (not B+) – Build 180707 – with Google Play Store, Aptoide TV and TeamViewer

NEWS 180707: My build of RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 is ready. It’s the first RaspAnd build with Android Oreo 8.1. All installed apps (including Google Play Services and Google Play Store) have been updated to the latest available version by 180707. Read about all other included apps below. While downloading RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 Build 180707 you will also get RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 Build 180529, which works much better than RaspAnd Oreo 8.1.

RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 Build 180707 can be used with the official Raspberry Pi 7 inch touchscreen and Big TV Screens

Thanks to a member on this site who asked for support for the Raspberry Pi official 7 inch touchscreen I started to experiment with different configurations. Success!

Experimental Build
Build 180707
of RaspAnd can be downloaded for free by those who have purchased RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 Build 180529 (and previous versions of RaspAnd 7.1.2). That’s because RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 can be considered as “experimental”. It doesn’t work as good as RaspAnd Nougat. Fewer monitors/TV screens can be used and the performance is slower. You must be aware of the fact that the Raspberry Pi 3 computer has its limitations and that Android Oreo 8.1 is a very advanced Linux system.

MORE ABOUT RaspAnd Oreo

RaspAnd Oreo 8.1 Build 180707 is an Android 8.1 Oreo system which can run on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. RaspAnd can not yet run on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+.
5) Jelly Browser
6) Aptoide TV (for installing new apps which can’t be found on Google Play Store – many many apps can be installed!)
7) ES File Explorer 4.1.7.2 working very well
8) AIDA64
9) Termux 0.60 – a very special terminal. (Use the APT package manager!)
10) Quick Reboot Pro 1.8.4
11) YouTube – unfortunately not all videos will run.

ABOUT Android 8.1
Version 8.1 is the latest Android system by now. Released on December 5, 2017.

KNOWN ISSUES re. RaspAnd Build 180707
1. Not all apps will run in RaspAnd Oreo. You can for example run the popular (?) Clash of Clans very well, but not Angry Birds. Many many apps will run without problems though.
2. You can’t run Netflix.
3. Bluetooth doesn’t work.
4. RaspAnd Oreo can not yet run on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+.

RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B (not B+) – Build 180529 – with Google Play Store, Kodi 18.0-ALPHA2, Aptoide TV, Bluetooth and TeamViewer working very well

NEWS 180529: A new version of RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 is ready. It is basically an update of RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 Build 171220. All installed apps (including Google Play Services and Google Play Store) have been updated to the latest available version by 180529. Kodi has been updated from 17.6 to 18.0-ALPHA2 Leia – released 180421. The screen flickering which could occur when running Kodi 17.6 is now (almost) gone. Read about all other included apps below.

RaspAnd 7.1.2 Build 180529 can be used with the official Raspberry Pi 7 inch touchscreen and Big TV Screens

Thanks to a member on this site who asked for support for the Raspberry Pi official 7 inch touchscreen I started to experiment with different configurations. Success!

Need to update?
Build 180529
of RaspAnd can be downloaded by those who have purchased Build 171220 (and previous versions of RaspAnd 7.1.2). No need to reinstall RaspAnd if you have Build 171220 up and running. I.e. all GAPPS will be updated automatically via Google Play Store all the time.

NEWS 180529 ABOUT RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 with Google Play Store (and everything else!) working

RaspAnd Nougat 7.1.2 Build 180529 has GAPPS installed and Google Play Store working. Bluetooth works and you can use TeamViewer to control other computers from your Rpi3. RaspAnd can be installed in Windows using Win32 Disk Imager or Etcher. The video performance is generally much better than in previous versions. Your Wifi connection is stable and it will reconnect after every reboot of your Rpi3.

1) GAPPS (Google Play Services with Google Play Store in latest versions. (12.6.85 and 10.1.08-all) – released 180526
2) Kodi 18.0-ALPHA2 (latest version which allows users to play and view most videos, music, podcasts, and other digital media files from local and network storage media and the Internet. YouTube is enabled and working very well!)
3) Spotify is not installed. Install version 4.6 via Google Play Store. It works very well!
4) Google Play Games (needed for for example Clash of Clans to run)

Most important changes in Build 180529: Your Wifi connection will be stable and Bluetooth works for the very first time in my RaspAnd 7.1.2 builds. The video performance in Kodi 18.0 is better than in version 17.6. NOTE also: Build 180529 is (almost) perfect in every aspect considering that the Rpi3 computer has its limitations. Running RaspAnd Build 180529 you can use the Raspberry Pi official 7 inch touchscreen and very Big TV screens.
