ABOUT RLRH EXTON Build 230922
RLRH EXTON is a LIVE version of Rocky Linux 9.2 which is also compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux®. Rocky Linux is an open-source enterprise operating system designed to be 100% bug-for-bug compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux®. It is under intensive development by the community.

LIVE LINUX SYSTEM
You can run RLRH EXTON live (i.e. from a DVD or USB stick) on EFI and non-EFI computers. (Rocky Linux is not a LIVE system). From Wikipedia: A live CD or live DVD is a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM containing a bootable computer operating system. Live CDs are unique in that they have the ability to run a complete, modern operating system on a computer lacking mutable secondary storage, such as a hard disk drive. 

CREATE YOUR OWN Rocky Linux System
You can also create your own Rocky Linux system using Refracta Snapshot, which is pre-installed. I.e. change everything to your liking and then create a new ISO. That can be done after a hard drive installation. If you have plenty of RAM it is also possible to create a new ISO while running RLRH EXTON live.

MORE ABOUT RLRH EXTON
Gnome 40 is used as DE. Two kernels are installed – 6.5.3-1.el9.elrepo.x86_64 and 6.5.3-amd64-exton. Use the one you prefer (after a hard drive installation).

Study all installed packages in RLRH EXTON Build 230922.

UNIQUE
RLRH EXTON is unique. I.e. there is no other live version of Rocky Linux around (as far as I know).

NEWS 230903 ABOUT ExTiX with Deepin 23 BETA
I’ve released a new version of ExTiX Deepin today (230903). The previous ExTiX Deepin 23 version is from 230403. This ExTiX Build is based on Deepin 23 BETA (latest version) released by Deepin Technology in May 2023. Please read the Release Notes. As you can see the developers urge people to try Deepin BETA in a non-production environment! I must say, though, that I haven’t discovered any “bugs”. And the installed programs won’t “crash” or anything like that. On the contrary ExTiX Deepin 23.9 with the Deepin DE 23 works pretty well I would say. I have nevertheless kept ExTiX 22.12 with Deepin 20.8 on the server. Deepin 20.8/20.9 is the stable version released 221208. ExTiX 23.9 uses kernel 6.5.0-extix-amd64-desktop-hwe. ExTiX 23.9 works in the same way as all other ExTiX versions. I.e. you can install it to hard drive while running the system live. Use Refracta Installer for that. You can also create your own live installable Deepin 23 system with Refracta Snapshot. (Using ExTiX 23.9 as a “base system”). So easy that a ten year old child can do it!

Used KERNEL
My special kernel 6.5.0-extix-amd64-desktop-hwe corresponding Kernel.org’s kernel 6.5.

What’s new in Linux kernel 6.5? 

Upgrade Deepin 23 to BETA 2 or to the stable 23 version of Deepin
Future upgrades are very easy to perform. Just run the command sudo apt update followed by sudo apt upgrade. The BETA 2 version of Deepin will be released later in September 2023.

LFA (Linux For All) 64bit Live System – Build 230608 – with Gnome 44 and kernel 6.4.0-rc4-amd64-exton :: Create you own LFA/Ubuntu installable 23.04 system!

Linux For All (LFA) Build 230608 with Gnome 44
is a simple remaster of Ubuntu 23.04, code-named Lunar Lobster. It’s a total rebuild. I.e. nothing is left of the old LFA system. NOTE: Ubuntu 23.04 will be supported (only) until January 2024. To be able to upgrade Gnome from version 42.4 to 44 I first had to upgrade Ubuntu from version 22.04 (supported until April 2027) to 23.04.

NEWS ABOUT LFA Build 230608
1. All packages the ordinary Linux user can wish for are pre-installed. Study the full packages list.
2. Kernel 6.4.0-rc4-amd64-exton is used. You can of course switch to Ubuntu’s original kernel if you prefer that.
3. The Desktop environment is Gnome 44. (Ubuntu’s original DE).
4. The main Web Browser is Firefox. So you can watch Netflix!
5. I have included Refracta tools (Refracta Snapshot) to make it possible for you to create your own installable Ubuntu 23.04 Live System once you have installed LFA to hard drive.
6. You can run LFA fast in RAM. Use boot alternative 2 Load to RAM – see below.
7. VirtualBox Guest Additions are pre-installed , which means (among other things) that you can run LFA in VirtualBox in full screen. Watch this screenshot.

ExTiX 23.5-2 – “The Ultimate Linux System” – based on Ubuntu 23.04 with LXQt 1.3, Refracta Snapshot and kernel 6.3.1-amd64-exton :: Build 230530

ExTiX 23.5-2 LXQt – Build 230530
I have made a new version of ExTiX – The Ultimate Linux System. I call it ExTiX 23.5-2 LXQt Live System. (The previous LXQt version was 22.8 from 220814). ExTiX 23.5-2 is based on Ubuntu 23.04 (Lunar Lobster)! Ubuntu 23.04 will be supported (only) until January 2024. To be able to upgrade LXQt from version 0.17 to 1.3 I first had to upgrade Ubuntu from version 22.04 (supported until April 2027) to 23.04. The best thing with ExTiX 23.5-2 is that while running the system live (from DVD/USB) or from hard drive you can use Refracta Snapshot (pre-installed) to create your own live installable Ubuntu system. So easy that a ten year child can do it! One other very good thing with this version of ExTiX is that it is quite light. The ISO file is of only 2050 MB, which means that you can run the system super fast from RAM. When the boot process is ready you can eject the DVD or USB stick. Use Boot alternative 3 or Advanced options… >> load to RAM.

ABOUT
ExTiX 23.5-2 LXQt System 64 bit is based on Debian Sid and Ubuntu 23.04. The original system includes the Desktop Environment Gnome. After removing Gnome I have installed LXQt 1.3 (latest version, released 230415). LXQt is the Qt port and the upcoming version of LXDE, the Lightweight Desktop Environment. It is the product of the merge between the LXDE-Qt and the Razor-qt projects: A lightweight, modular, blazing-fast and user-friendly desktop environment. NOTE: This ExTiX LXQt Build is for installation to UEFI-enabled computers. You shall use Refracta Installer for that.

SlackEX 15.0 (Slackware 15.0) Live System with KDE Plasma 5.27.5 (latest), Refracta Snapshot and kernel 6.3.1-amd64-exton :: Build 230525

Slackware is the first widely-used Linux system, which is still developing. Slackware has existed since 1993. In comparison with for example Ubuntu and Linux Mint, many people believe that Slackware is “difficult”. Any novice can quickly learn to use Ubuntu they say. My remasters of Slackware Current (15.0), which I call SlackEX 15.0 Current 64 bit Linux Live DVD, are however just as easy to use as Ubuntu and/or Linux Mint. Some tend to complain that the Program Management in Slackware is awkward. That was perhaps earlier the case, but not anymore.

NEWS ABOUT SlackEX 15.0 stable Build 230525 with KDE Plasma 5.27.5 (latest) as DE
A new extra version of SlackEX is ready. It is based on Slackware 15.0 stable released 220203. In this version I’ve installed KDE Plasma 5.27.5 (latest version released 230509). Plasma 5.27 is a LTS (Long Term Support) version. Kernel 6.3.1-amd64-exton is used. The most important package installed is Refracta Snapshot. With that you can build your own Slackware distribution with Plasma 5.27.5. KDE is one of Slackware’s official Desktop Environments. The other one is Xfce4. NOTE1: You can run SlackEX Build 230525 as the normal user user or as root. The password for root is root. The password for user is live. NOTE2: You can run SlackEX Build 230525 on UEFI and non-Uefi computers. You can also run SlackEX live super fast from RAM. NOTE3: If you want to run SlackEX as root you shall choose “Other” using SDDM Login Manager. The password for root is root.

Slackware is the first widely-used Linux system, which is still developing. Slackware has existed since 1993. NEWS ABOUT SlackEX BUILD 230521 with the Xfce4 DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT (DE)
A new version of SlackEX is ready. It is based on Slackware 15.0 STABLE released 220202 with Xfce4 as DE. The most important package installed is Refracta Snapshot. With that you can build your own Slackware 15.0 distribution. Xfce4 is one of Slackware’s official Desktop environments. The other one is KDE. Kernel 6.3.1-amd64-exton is used in this SlackEX Build. To be able to use Refracta Snapshot you’ll have to use said kernel. Otherwise you can (of course) replace “my” kernel with Slackware’s original kernel. Study the full package LIST.

Update/Upgrade the System
As regards my other two SlackEX Builds you can easily upgrade the systems to the present state of Slackware 15.0 stable. Just run the command sudo slackpkg update followed by sudo slackpkg upgrade-all.

I’ve made a new updated “mini” version of ExTiX – The Ultimate Linux System. It is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy Jellyfish. The ISO file is of only 1550 MB, which is good if you want to run the system super fast from RAM. It should be enough with 2GB RAM. When the boot process is ready you can eject the DVD or USB stick. Use Boot alternative 2. The best thing with ExTiX 23.5 is that while running the system live (from DVD/USB) or from hard drive you can use Refracta Snapshot (pre-installed) to create your own live installable Ubuntu 22.04 system. So easy that a ten year child can do it! ExTiX 23.5 uses kernel 6.3.1-amd64-exton. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS will be supported until April 2027. That’s why ExTiX 23.5 isn’t based on Ubuntu 23.04.

About all DebEX systems
All four systems/distributions are based on Debian Sid (unstable). Gnome 43.4 and Enlightenment 0.25.4 are used as Desktop environments in DebEX Gnome/Enlightenment. Gnome 41 is used in DebEX Gnome. KDE Plasma Desktop 5.27.2 is used in DebEX KDE. LXQt 1.2  is used in DebEX Build 230418 – 32 bit. The system language is English (in all four versions of DebEX).

Debian 12 (Sid/upcoming Bookworm) is still supposed to be unstable, but the “full hard freeze” took place already 230312.

I’ve made a new DebEX system for older computers. It uses LXQt 1.2 as Desktop environment. LXQt is a lightweight Qt desktop environment. It will not get in your way. It will not hang or slow down your system. It is focused on being a classic desktop with a modern look and feel. Only a minimum of packages are installed. The ISO file is of only 1340 MB! Refracta Snapshot is pre-installed also in this version of DebEX, which means that you can make your own Debian 32 bit (Intel x86 32-bit architecture) live installable system in a very simple way. NEWS 221218 ABOUT ExTiX Deepin
I’ve released a new version of ExTiX Deepin today (221218). This ExTiX Build is based on Deepin 20.8 released by Deepin Technology 221208. Using Refracta Snapshot (pre-installed in ExTiX) you can make your own live installable Deepin 20.8 version with ExTiX 22.12 as “groundwork”.

NEW FUNCTIONS etc
1. You can run ExTiX from RAM. Use boot alternative 2 (load to RAM) or Advanced. A wonderful way to run Linux if you have enough RAM. Everything will be super fast. When ExTiX has booted up you can remove the DVD or USB stick.
2. You will have the opportunity to choose language before you enter the Deepin 20.8 Desktop. All main languages are supported.
3. I have replaced Deepin Installer with the Reborn version of Deepin Installer. Works better in every way. Watch this movie (slideshow).
4. I have replaced kernel 5.18.1-amd64-exton with kernel 6.1.0-amd64-exton. Corresponding the latest available stable kernel from Kernel.org.
5. Spotify and Skype are pre-installed.
6. You can watch Netflix while running Firefox.
7. You can install ExTiX Deepin also in VirtualBox/VMware using Refracta Installer or Deepin Installer. (In previous versions you had to “chroot” into the install partition and install Grub).
8. Install ExTiX to a USB stick preferably with Rufus or Ventoy in Windows – see below how it looks when I’ve used Ventoy.
9. In version 221218 I’ve also included Refracta Installer. Use it in VirtualBox if you want to have an exact copy of ExTiX Deepin installed. You don’t have to “chroot” to install Grub. Just choose to “Copy Grub files” when asked to. Watch this movie (slideshow).
NOTE1: If you want to remaster ExTiX Deepin you should use Refracta Installer. Using Deepin Installer some necessary packages (including Deepin Installer and Refracta Snapshot) will be removed during the installation process.
NOTE2: You can remaster (i.e. make your own live installable Deepin version) of ExTiX while running ExTiX live (i.e. from a USB stick or a DVD) if your computer has plenty of RAM. I could do that on a computer with 32GB RAM. I then started ExTiX live from RAM.
10. VirtualBox Guest Additions are pre-installed. With those installed you can run ExTiX in full screen in VirtualBox. Watch this screenshot.

I may add that there is no other live version of Deepin 20.8.
